“You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.” By Lazar Stevlic

Human Rights came about in late 1948. They were created to give people rights that can never be taken away from you because you are a human. One of those human rights was “No Torture.” It states that “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment” but some people have this right violated. People in Syria, and Guantanamo Bay are being tortured everyday. Which makes it feel to those people that they have no human rights. 141 countries still use torture according to the U.N. It is also happening a lot right now due to wars that are happening right now. There is torture happening even on our own soil in America. But people don’t care. The Red Cross made a poll about torture. According to the poll 46% of Americans think that torture is acceptable. But it really isn’t acceptable. As a human you have rights that you get for being human. One of those rights is the right to not be tortured. But many countries and Americans don’t care.
During the Syrian Civil War the Syrian government have been doing everything to stop the rebels. A Syrian woman by the name of Farah was arrested by the Syrian Government and tortured. For this she was interviewed by the BBC (British Broadcasting Station) because of what happened to her and they wanted to share her story. She was arrested because they thought that she was a opposition activist a.k.a a rebel but she wasn’t. The first thing she saw were men hanged up. She was put in a dark, cold room with 12 other women. She was beaten as they asked her questions. She also tortured with electrodes. She was also threatened with rape by the guards and the interrogators. They tortured her physically and mentally. They also threatened to bring her son into the detention center. Hurting her inside even more. Farah and other people in the detention center were being tortured on a daily basis. The guards didn't care who they tortured as she said that a elderly man got tortured once. She said that they electrocuted him and he died during the torture. So they picked his body up from the ground and threw him out of the room. She also has seen a man being hung from his hands and legs. They pulled the ropes and spit on him. After 36 days of cruel, and endless torture they released her from prison and she went to the UK. She holds Syrian President Bashar al-Assad responsible from the torture and events she witnessed in the prison. Due to the torture and things she witness she will probably be scarred of life.
There could be life long effects on Farah’s life due to the torture. She can develop PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder) due to the torture she went though and the events she witnessed in the prison. Another man who was tortured named Adeel suffers from panic attacks due to the torture. Whenever he hears footsteps approaching him or a person in uniform it triggers bad memories and he gets a panic attack. He was tortured in Guantanamo Bay by US soldiers. Adeel also feels like he is still in Guantanamo Bay and he also feels isolated due to his torture. A psychiatrist at King’s College London said that the techniques that they use in torture are “cruel, inhuman, and degrading.”
Torture isn’t a thing that some countries want to stop like the Syria and 46% of American citizens. They use torture to get inform from Prisoners of War. Syria and some Americans don’t think that there are other ways to get information of people. Plus they should stop because it violates a human right. Human Right number 5, “No Torture” but some countries are trying to put an end to torture. Barack Obama has been trying closed Guantanamo Bay where the Americans had been torturing prisoners. He also banned the use of brutal interrogation techniques being used by American troops. Due to Obama trying to stop the use of torture in the US other countries could be soon to follow signaling the end of torture for good.

Human Rights Tortue Blog

On December 5th 2016, The Red Cross opened up a poll about torture. They opened the poll to see what Americans thought about torture. The poll had one simple question is torture okay or not. Well 46% of Americans say that torture is acceptable. Which is a big human right violation. Human Rights are right that you have as a human being. One of your human rights is “No Torture”. Which states that “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”. 46% of Americans disregard this human right and say that torture is acceptable. 33% of Americans also say that torture is “a part of war”. Meaning that if US Army takes a POW then they could torture that prisoner to give them information about their enemies. Meaning that the US Army could violate human rights due to them being in a war.
But not all is bad. In the same poll 54% of Americans find that torture is wrong. Meaning that these people have educated themselves about these things. They also know that torture is a human right violation. But not all things are good. The Red Cross poll also showed that the poll was a lower proportion than any other country polled. Israel had 44% of people said that torture is acceptable and Palestine had 35% of people say that torture is acceptable. Meaning that we have the most percent of people that say that torture is an acceptable than any other country in the world.

Nonfiction Blog: The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

The book I'm reading is about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What I read recently was leading up to the bombing and what happened during and after the bombing. It talked about the beginning of WW2 and how the entire world was in total war.  The author talked about the battles and things that happened leading up to the bombing. By 1945 the Japanese were locked in a war with the US. The Japanese saw surrender as dishonorable and fought with their life for the glory of Japan. On March 10th, 1945, 300 American aircraft dropped 2,000 tons of incendiary bombs. Damaging almost every city. Despite this the Japanese never surrendered. The prepared a final battle and taught their citizens how to fight and gave them weapons. But America was working on the Manhattan Project which gave them nuclear weapons. FDR didn't use them but he suddenly died and his successor Harry Truman was ready to use it to end WW2. Then on 7:09 a.m. on Monday, August 6th, 1945 Hiroshima was bombed by the atomic bomb killing 100,000 people. Many were injured by burns and everything was destroyed. Even after that bombing on Hiroshima the Japanese still didn't surrender. It wasn't till they nuked Nagasaki that the Japanese would surrender ending WW2.
“In 1939, German-born physicist Albert Einstein-who had moved to the U.S. because of the Nazi persecution of Jews in Germany-had written a letter to President Franklin Roosevelt, warning that the Germans had successfully split an atom of element uranium, a breakthrough that could potentially lead to the development of incredibly powerful atomic bombs”. I found this passage interesting because I wonder why the Germans were trying to do that in the first place, were they trying to make a weapon that could completely destroy their enemies. I found this interesting because the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki caused important events after the war was over and into our lifetime. The “Cold War” started because of the atomic bomb. The Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Iran Nuclear Deal and I see things like that happen and I wonder what would have our world look like without nuclear weapons.
I have one thing that I found interesting and I will probably never forget this. When the US dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, 100,000 people died because of the atomic bomb. Then the Japanese didn't surrender so the US bombed Nagasaki. Then the Japanese surrendered. The US citizens were celebrating. But they were celebrating the deaths for innocent people. Babies, mothers, grandmothers, fathers all perished in the bombings but the US won. So people overlook that fact. That the way we won WW2 was because of the death of 100,000 plus innocent people.

Gallery Walk

Today in class we had a gallery walk. We were walking around in class and look at what AoW’s our classmates had done. I learned about a ninth planet in our solar system, how bugs live in our houses, and how Donald Trump is affecting our education system. I also learned about endangered bats in Florida and a marine reserve near Antarctica. Let’s take a look and see how this affects my life.
A ninth planet in our solar system. Scientists say that there might be a ninth planet in our solar system and it is affecting the solar system right now. It is tilting the solar system. Moving it around by inches and the scientists are noticing. It affects my life because they might find it and that would be cool. There would be three things that I never thought would happened in lifetime but did. A major war, the Cubs winning the world series, and a new planet in a our solar system. I also learned that Donald Trump as president would affect our education system. Trump said that he would give a 20 million dollar grant to private schools. Meaning that tax dollars would be given to private schools instead of public schools. Making public school not able to make any money and force them to close down. I also learned about how there will be a Marine Reserve close by Antarctica. Meaning there could be a chance that we find new species of fish or other animals. I also learned about how taxing meat and dairy products helps fight global warming. If we tax meat and dairy products it will help lower a billion tons of gas. Helping with global emissions.

Gratitude Blog

On Thursday is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is all about eating and being lazy. It is also about showing gratitude for your family and things you have in your life. It isn’t just a holiday that you get a day off for at school. It is about giving and hanging out with your family.
I am thankful for my family. I’m thankful for having a functional family. I love my family. My grandma is funny and gives me life lessons that I will remember for the rest of my life. My uncle is one of my best friends. He likes the same things I do and is very funny. I love my mom and dad with all of my heart. My cousins are funny and good people to hang out with. My sister is my favorite person. She is funny and my little sister. I will be her big brother forever. I will protect her and make her have the best life ever. I honestly don’t know what my life would be without my sister.
I’m also thankful for the things I have. I’m thankful for being in school and getting a education. I’m thankful for having a house to live in and a bed to sleep in a night. I’m thankful for having car to be driven to places. I’m thankful for yes having a phone, tv, and video game console to occupy myself with all the rest of the time I have after school.
Thanksgiving is has more to it than eating. It is about family, gratitude, and being thankful for family, possessions, and your life. I hope that if you are reading this that you find that out. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and god bless.

AoW Blog 1

Why did Hillary Clinton think the the FBI caused her lose?

The article “Hillary Clinton Blames F.B.I Director for Election Loss” by Amy Chozick of the New York Times explains how Hillary Clinton blamed the FBI and it's director James Comey for her loss in the election. Hillary Clinton blamed the FBI and its director of the loss on Tuesday. She said that days before the election the FBI started its investigation into Hillary Clinton and her private email server again. He launched the investigation 11 days before the election. Springing her back into controversy and she wasn't able to end her campaign on a good note. She also said that the letter James Comey sent clearing her name was the most damaging due to the letter being released two days before Election Day. She said that due to the letter she lost most of the battleground states making so Trump won. This isn't time some blamed their loss on outside interference. Mitt Romney said he lost due to President Obama vowing to give gifts to African-Americans, Hispanics, and young people. John Kerry said that he lost after a videotape of Osama Bin Laden appeared, making people fear about terrorism. Mr. Comey’s letter to Congress went against the FBI tradition of avoiding decisions that affect the outcomes of election. She has been silent since her concession speech. She is probably thinking about how she could win the election.
“Mrs. Clinton campaign was so confident in her victory that her aides popped open Champagne on the campaign plane early Tuesday.” What do you think this is? A very happy person that is about to become the President of the United States? Or a very braggy woman who caused herself to lose the election. 2 was correct. You see from the start Hillary thought she could win. Everyone thought Hillary would have won. But no she lost fair and square to Donald Trump. Why? Not because of the FBI but because of Hillary Clinton. All her scandals and things she has done have affected the outcome of the election. Her private email server, her wanting to have a no-fly zone over Syria, and her countless lies. This shows that you should never boast. Hillary though she had won the election due to Trump actions but in reality she was boasting for Trump’s victory.
The author, Amy Chozick’s purpose for making the article as to inform us. She wanted to inform us about Hillary Clinton and she thought about her election loss against Donald Trump. She want us to know that Hillary blames her loss in the election on the FBI director James Comey and why she does.

Election Day: Reflection

Last night was Election Day in America. Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton. On one side was a billionaire with no political experience prior and a huge ego. The other side a lying criminal would had a famous president for a husband. To be completely honest. Neither should have made it past the primaries. Hillary shouldn’t because she should be in jail and plus rigging the Democratic primaries. Trump shouldn’t have made it due to his lack in political experience. But they both past primaries and made it to Election Day. It doesn’t matter who you supported but we can all agree that this was a recipe for disaster. Both have major flaws, and shouldn’t be running for president.
Hillary Clinton shouldn't have been able to even touch the primaries let alone the White House. First she is a liar, a criminal, a greedy woman. Also she want to start WW3 and plausibly end the world. First since we mentioned it let’s talk about how she could have kill us all. One was Hillary’s “great” plans were to have a no-fly zone in Syria. As you know Syria is in a civil war and Hillary want to try to stop it. But if she won the presidency and made the no-fly zone happen we would be a big trouble. First she would have broken one of her many “promises” in her campaign. One of those “promises” was to not put a single dollar in the national debt. We will need that for later. Know back to the no-fly zone. If Hillary put the no-fly zone in place she would have started a war with Syria… and Russia. I don’t know if Hillary knows this but Russia wouldn’t hesitate to nuke us in the slightest. Also to have the no-fly zone would cause a war. Putting money in the national debt. Which she said she wouldn't do.
But Donald Trump isn't good either. Although in my opinion Hillary is worse. Donald Trump is known for many things. One, for being a billionaire. Two, having a massive ego. Trump is also a moron. Bad mouthing pretty much everybody imaginable. He has badmouthed Latinos, Muslims, Women, and much more. He also made a lot of people hate him and think bad of him. Making it so people don't want to vote for him. Also due to him not releasing his tax return makes him a shady person. If Donald doesn't want to release his tax returns then what is he hiding. Making more people not vote for him.
In conclusion, both Trump and Hillary are bad candidates. But Trump won and if you love him or hate him America is in for a rough four years.

Veteran's Day Poem

”A Veteran’s Day Poem”

Veteran’s Day
A day of remembrance
A day of sorrow
A time of respect and courage
Soldiers sacrificed so much
Just for us
Some people don't care
But some do
Soldiers went out on the front lines
For our freedom
For our peace
And for America
So use this day to honor those who severed
And show them respect
Because they fought for the flag

Newscast Blog: The Walking Dead Premiere

Yesterday, October 23rd, Sunday, possibly the biggest and most hyped season premiere in television history aired. The Walking Dead: Season 7, Episode 1. After waiting for over 6 months the fans are finally given the answer to one of the greatest mysteries in television history, who did Negan kill? But why did Negan want to kill someone? Well, in the episodes before that Rick and his group meet a man by the name of “Jesus” and his community the Hilltop. But the community was beginning controlled by Negan. So Rick made a deal, if Rick and his group killed Negan the Hilltop would help them out and give them some food. The Hilltop agreed and Rick went out to kill Negan. Instead he killed a ton of Negan’s men, which made his furious. So Negan got Rick and his group and trapped them. Then Negan killed someone but the community couldn’t see because the writers made it so you couldn’t find out until the season premiere.
The community was in a uproar when the season finale of The Walking Dead aired over a 6 months ago. After the episode aired fans speculated for months about who did Negan kill and finding evidence to support their claim. People thought it was Glenn due to him being the one to die in the comics. Others thought that it was Abraham due to the popular “Orange Crush” theory. The “Orange Crush” theory explained that since Abraham didn’t die his comic death people thought that the Orange Crush that was shown in a multiple episodes said that Abraham because Abraham was red hair. Then if it wasn’t those two then people thought that it was the fan favorite Daryl because of the impact it would give. But yesterday the community finally got their wish. They found who Negan killed. But in the months leading up to the episode, things had been figured out and leaked. Leaked clips of the death were shown. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor who plays Negan accidentally said that there would be more than one death. Also the script for the episode was leaked. Which said who died in the premiere.
But yesterday we got to saw who got Lucilled by Negan. It was Abraham and Glenn, they both meet their gruesome end in the premiere. Abraham was picked during the initial “Eney, Mene, Meny, Moe” sequence. He was picked and gave a peace sign to his lover Sasha. Then Negan hit him right on the top of the skull with his baseball bat. But Abraham got back up and told Negan something that I won’t repeat here and then Negan hit him again killing him. Then Negan went to town with his baseball bat on Abraham’s head. Then out of grief for his lost friend Daryl punched Negan. But instead of killing Daryl, Negan made a example out of Glenn. He hit on the head so hard that Glenn’s eye popped out. As Glenn was dying he said one last thing to Maggie his wife, he said “Maggie, I love you”. Then Negan hit him again, and again, and again. Then with his sick and twisted charm made a joke saying that “Lucille is a vampire bat”.
After the episode the community was divided. Some were mourning the lose of two of their favorite characters. Others had pitchforks in hand waiting for Rick to get revenge on Negan. Other people loved Negan. But the community has to say that Jeffery Dean Morgan’s portrayal of Negan was great and the community will soon love him or love to hate him.

1st Quarter Reflection Blog

The first quarter of school is done and over with. I wonder how I have progress since the end of seventh grade? Since the beginning of seventh grade my writing was amazing and in eighth grade I think it is even better. I think that since I started eighth grade my writing has a improved a lot. I was good at writing in seventh grade. If I had something that I was really passionate about something or knew a lot about a certain person or topic, I would be able to write for days on end. In seventh grade we made iBooks around the end of the school year. Everyone did an iBooks and was facing off against someone else to see who made a better iBook. It would be look at by my teacher at the time Ms. Baldassano. Her mom, dad, brother, and then fiancĂ© Tommy. Everyone in my class either lost or won, but not for me. Me and my opponent’s writing was so good that they weren’t able to decide you won and who lost. Now to eighth grade. I’m still pretty good at writing. But know I think I’m even better at it. Due to us having to write our blogs in a TIQA format I now know how to write in a complete paragraph. It was everything. It has a topic sentence, quotes, analysis and most of all it is an easy format to write in and for that thank you. Eighth grade in my opinion has helped me further progress my writing skills to new heights.
So far in the first quarter I think that I will be on pace to beat the 10 book challenge by the end of the 3rd quarter. In the start of eighth grade we started the 10 Book Challenge. In which I’m doing great in. Since we have started the 10 Book Challenge I feel that I have been reading a lot more. I usually never really read. I don’t really like to read to be honest. Most of the books I’m not really interested into. Like The Hunger Games or Harry Potter, books like that are uninteresting to me. In seventh grade I time I would only ever read is a sequel to book we read in class or when MAP and PARCC testing come around. But around 4th quarter last year I started reading more and found books that are interesting to me. I found the book series called The Phoenix Files. I read the first one and I was hooked. Then I found out that was about 6 books in the series and I was ecstatic. I only finished the first book in seventh grade but still I was excited. Then when The Walking Dead season finally rolled around and I watched it was interested in reading the comics. I read all three compendiums and I’m now on the newest issue 157. Now in eighth grade I have probably read more books in the first quarter then in the first 2 quarters in seventh grade. In the first quarter I have read about 5 books. The book I read were Lincoln's Grave Robbers, Maus I and II, The Giver, and The Phoenix Files: Contact. I think that I will be on pace to read 10 books by the end of 2nd quarter but I will probably finished at the end of the 3rd quarter.
I think that I had a very good 1st quarter in school and in ELA. In 1st quarter in ELA I feel that I accomplished my goals that I wanted to achieved in the 1st quarter. When I walked through the door of the ELA classroom I didn’t really have any goals besides the usually such as get good grades, don’t be late, and turn in my homework on time. I almost got all my goals accomplished besides the homework one. But in the 2nd quarter I want to add new goals and accomplish the goals I didn’t do in the 1st quarter. I want to have all my homework done and turned in on time with 100% effort put in. Something I didn’t do in the 1st quarter. I want to get good grades which is a goal everyone should have. I also want to beat the 10 book challenge in which I’m halfway to completing. I also don’t want to get in trouble like in 1st quarter in ELA sometimes. But other than that I thing that I accomplished my goals in 1st quarter and had a every successful quarter in not just ELA but in every class. I hope that I will be better in 2nd quarter and overall have a better quarter than last quarter.

The Giver Movie vs. Book Blog

In the book The Giver and in the movie The Giver there are two scenes in both that are very different, that scene is the Ceremonies. In The Giver movie it diverts from the book a lot. We are going to examine what happened in the Ceremony in the movie and see what is different. In the movie Ceremony is very different from the book version. In the movie Jonas is around 17 to 18 years old. Same with Fiona and Asher. Now to get to the ceremony. It starts off with the “Ceremony for Release to Elsewhere.” A minor diversion from the book as that is a separate ceremony from the Ceremonies that happen in December. They don’t state when it takes place in the movie. Then after that there is the Naming. Which happens in the book. After that point the movie is spot on but then we get the Ceremony of Nine in which Lily partakes with. Then we have the main ceremony. The Ceremony of 18 because I think that is how old Jonas is in the movie. Jonas’s birth number is 52 instead of what it was in the book. Also when Jonas wasn’t called there was a hush in the crowd like it was described in the book. In the movie The Giver they divert from the book it was based off of. One of those examples was the Ceremony scene. We have seen what the Ceremony was like in the movie now where are going to see what they got wrong. In the book the Ceremonies take place in December something the movie forgets to mention. In the book the Ceremonies kick off with the naming. The Ceremony of Release is a small ceremony of the old. The Ceremony of Release can also happen anytime. Also in the book Jonas is 12 while in the movie he is 18. A huge age gap. Also another difference between the book and the movie is that Lily is 8 years old in the book but she is 9 in the movie. They also had the Ceremony of Twelve of the other ceremony in the movie. Also Jonas’s birth number was 19 instead of 52.
In the movie version of The Giver we finally get to see what the community looks like. In The Giver movie we see what the community looks like. It was nothing like I imagined. The community in The Giver gives us the reason certain thing happened and did not happen. We know about the rules and such but we have never been or seen the community. But when we saw the movie we saw what the director visualized in his head to be the community. He imagined it to be a sci-fi community. Which is nothing I imagined in my head. I imagined the community to be just like our community but a little be downgraded. But we got a sci-fi inspired town. It was probably to advance the plot and story of the movie later on but still I didn't like the change.
In the book and movie The Giver, the ending is very different from each other. In The Giver, both the book and movie endings are different. We are now going to find out how they are different. First thing, first. The ending in the movie is surprisingly better than in the book. Now, I'm not saying that the movie is better than the book but you have to give them credit, Another thing is that he are given a satisfying ending in the movie. We find out where Jonas and Gabe are and how they are doing. We see what happens to the memories when they are released from Jonas and back into the community. But in the book we are given a ending that doesn't really satisfy or really deserving for a book like The Giver. We don't get to see what happens with the Giver or the community and the book just ends abruptly. It is overall a underwhelming end for such a good book. We don't see anyone else's point of view besides Jonas’s which I don't really like. Also in the movie Jonas and Gabe aren't weak, and starving like in the book. But in some sense the ending for the movie is also kinda bad because when Jonas gets the memories to come back to the community he sees a house which for a story perspective doesn't make any sense. We know that the only humans and buildings and in the communities. There is nothing but nature in Elsewhere but in the movie we see a house that presumably has people in it just sitting there. It doesn't make sense.

The Giver Blog: 2

In The Giver we have learned that Jonas is a dynamic character. During the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas’s birth number gets skipped. The chief elder skips him and he starts freaking out. “Jonas prepared himself to walk to the stage when the applause ended and the Chief  Elder picked up the next folder and looked down to the to call forward the next new Twelve. He was calm now that his turn had come. He took a deep breath and smoothed his hair with his hand. “Twenty,” he head her voice say clearly. “Pierre.” She skipped me, Jonas thought stunned.” This shows that Jona is selfless. He doesn’t care about PIerre or what job he is getting. He only cares why the Chief Elder skipped him. He doesn’t pay attention to the Ceremony. He only cares about himself and why he got skipped. Later on in the story Jonas escapes from the community into Elsewhere with Gabe and he changes. “Gabriel had not cried during the long frightening journey. Now he did. He cried because he was hungry and cold and terribly weak. Jonas cried, too, for the same reasons, and another reason as well. He wept because he was afraid now that he could not save Gabriel. He no longer cared about himself.” When Jonas is picked to be the next Receiver he changes. At the beginning he can’t see color, doesn't feel emotions, and doesn’t care about others. But slowly during his training he changes. He starts to see color, feel emotions, and become less selfless. In the memory of war Jonas sees are dying boy on the field. The boy begs for water. Jonas sees his arm is torn into shreds and he can see the bone. Instead of tending to his arm he fights through the pain and gives water to the boy. Then at the end of the story Jonas escapes. But before he goes home to prepare. He learns that Gabriel is going to be released. Instead of leaving him, he takes Gabriel with him saving him in the process. Then in the quote Jonas changes and instead of caring his own well being, he cares about the well being of Gabriel and becomes a dynamic character.
In The Giver, we learned that he theme of the book is “Looking into the past creates wisdom.” When, The Giver was tell the story about Rosemary he said what happened to the memories. “But there were those few terrible memories, the ones that overwhelmed her. For a while they overwhelmed the community. All those feelings. They’d never experienced that before.” The Giver knew when Rosemary was released there would be chaos in the streets. He knew from the memories. The memories that he had gave him wisdom. From the memories he knew that he would have to fix the community and keep it in order again. During, Jonas’s training he changed. He learned things about the community that he didn't know. During the training Jonas knew that this community wasn't what it looked like. He realized that this is far from a perfect world. Sameness, Jonas found out that no one can see color. He didn't understand it. Then Jonas found out about the things people in the community don't know. They don't know about Christmas, snow, grandparents and much more. He also found out that they don't know about love. The people in the community don't know about love. The don't feel emotions or feelings. Jonas feels love and emotions. Then Jonas found out what release is. Release is the execution of someone in the community. The elder, young, and the troublemakers are all released. Release is also the reason Jonas escapes from the community. This also shows how “Looking into the past creates wisdom.”

The Giver Blog

In The Giver by Lois Lowry there are many words that a repeated again and again by the main character, Jonas. One such word is release. In chapter one, Jonas is frightened by a jet that flies over the community when the loudspeaker plays, “Desperately the Pilot had been trying to make his way back before his error was noticed. Needless to say, he will be released.” Why does this keep showing up again and again? This might keep getting repeated again and again because it is an important part of the story. Jonas and other characters might keep talking about releasing because they are trying to foreshadow something that might happen in the story. The first time we hear about release is in chapter one. A jet flies over the community which has never happened in the community. Then a couple hours left the pilot gets “released” from the community. We didn't and still don't know what happens when you get released.
In chapter one of The Giver we learn from a memory from Jonas that once Asher was late to school when he saw salmon. In chapter one, Jonas is sitting in the classroom when Asher comes running into the classroom saying, “I left home at the correct time but when I was riding along near the hatchery, the crew was separating some salmon. I guess I just got distraught, watching them”. Why is this important? Why would something like Asher getting distracted by salmon be important. Well, why would he be distracted by salmon. When we first heard about this we thought nothing about it. Then as we kept reading the book we found out that in the community that The Giver takes place in they don't know what animals are. We see animals everyday in our world but the in The Giver they don't. If they don't know about animals what else don't they know about. Also why don't they know about animals. What happened or what did somebody do that makes this community not know what an animals are.

Welcome to My Blog

Hello, my name is Lazar and welcome to my blog. I like sports, video games, and food. My favorite sports teams are the Chicago Bulls, Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. My favorite video games are Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, and Rainbow Six Siege. I love basketball and baseball. I play them in my spare time. I also plan on trying out for all star basketball. Adding on to that I'm also a huge fan of the Walking Dead. I watch the tv shows and read the comic. I hope you guys will enjoy my blogs and see ya.
